Just wondering if there is a general consensus on which video card is most favored in the dock ii? also which ones fit in their half sized pci slot.

I tried a number of different video cards in my IBM dock II. From fancy dual head PCI Nvidia 3D cards with 128 Mb of RAM to Plain jane 2D cards.

I found out this. If you want to have multiple monitors running while using the LCD on the laptop (I have two Flat panels + the LCD). The card you use should not be fighting the on board controller for PCI bus mastering ability. That is unless you want to only use the PCI video card. Then you have your choice of any of the current PCI video cards.

This pretty much wiped out the dual head cards. Since they wanted to be the primary video controller. I had to use an older Matrox Millenium II PCI card which would slave to the onboard ATi FireGL. Good news is - it was free!

hmm... does that mean my fantasy of having 2 LCD's connected through DVI while using my T41p's LCD is quickly diminishing?

You'll have to find a DVI only card which doesn't want to the primary video card - then you can use the DVI, the LCD, and the PCI at the same time. Unless someone else has had success. For me it was about $350 after the fact that I found this out. I still have two extra dual head video cards too!

any chance that one of those 2 extra dual head cards of yours are dual dvi and you are looking to sell one of them?

PNY Quadro FX Nvidia PCI. I remember that they're two VGA port and a DVI adapter. I'll have to verify the model info. I might be convinced to sell one of em.

But if I were you - I'd look at Matrox first. They design a lot of cards used in the brokerage houses for trading systems.
