Found some pictures of 2012 ThinkPads on The Verge:

Some observations:
* X230 supposed to keep the IPS option - great!
* X230 has a miniDP, X230T has a full DisplayPort.
* Dock connector still there on X - good.
* L530 has a ridiculously wide LCD bezel.
* Touchpads still have the texture.
* 4G option for X230.
I just hope for high-res display options on X230. Looks like Apple is working on Retina for MacBooks which might win me over.

While I like higher resolution screens, the 146 pixel density on a 12.5" HD+ LCD would give me pause. I have no plans to upgrade in the near future, but you never know.yak wrote:Your thoughts?

A refresh without much, if any, surprise, not that it's a bad thing per se. Anyway, the major difference is the upgrade from Sandy to Ivy.
Wish they could trim the thickness and weight further for the X-series though.
The new X1 Carbon sounds quite interesting though.
Cheers.
P.S. How do one utilize the Print Screen, Screen Lock and Pause keys on the new keyboard...?

If it's like any previous chiclet keyboards found on Edge, etc.:loyukfai wrote:How do one utilize the Print Screen, Screen Lock and Pause keys on the new keyboard...?
PrintScreen is between right Alt and right Ctrl.
Fn+B= break
Fn+P= pause
Fn+S= sysrq
Fn+C= ScrLK
Fn+I= insert

Whoa, looks like X230 indeed gets a 1600x900 display option!

The new ThinkPad X230 promises to improve on this historic legacy by offering up to 24 hours of endurance, an even-lighter 3 pound chassis and an improved keyboard with optional backlight. Even better, the 300-nit screen will now be available in with an optional 1600 x 900 resolution.

Good question.ajkula66 wrote:Will it be an IPS one, though?
I remain sceptical about the high-res option, let alone about TN vs IPS.
The press release says:
I'm affraid they meant that *some of them* get that 300 NIT HD+ screen as an option, not all of them.The new ThinkPad X, T, W, and L Series models include a platform of innovations that respond to key business needs. (...) For a clear and rich audio-visual experience, the laptops include Dolby audio and super-bright 300 NIT HD+ panels.
Then it says:
Note that it doesn't say "HD+" here but it doesn't say "HD" either. Sigh.A road warrior’s dream weighing less than three pounds, the ThinkPad X230 laptop features a super-bright 12.5-inch, 300 nit IPS wide-viewing display.
