Enhancing Intel graphics with dual RAM modules

#1 Post by jheronimus » Mon Jun 04, 2012 2:32 pm

Hi!

I am waiting for X230s to start shipping. Not that it's a deal-breaker for me, but I do worry about GPU performance. I may want to do some gaming on this machine and I wonder what can I get out of HD 4000 GPU.

Some reviews mention that the dual channel controller may increase GPU perfomance when two identical (or just same volume?) RAM modules are used. How significant is this speed bump?

Furthermore, if I am to tinker with RAM anyway, will I benefit from installing two higher-clocked RAM modules?

Thanks!

for AMD llano APUs, the difference is fairly significant: http://forum.notebookreview.com/gaming- ... tions.html
and here's some discussion for the HD 3000: http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo- ... -x220.html
it doesn't matter too much of the sticks are identical (as far as brand), but i believe it's better if they are the same size.
