My Thinkpad T23 2647 Drive is broke

#1 Post by Daz » Thu Jun 28, 2012 8:38 pm

Hi guys,

I had to register here as I have been searching around the internet looking for a replacement disk drive for my thinkpad to no avail..

I have the T23 2647 (P3, I know it's bad but I can't afford to buy another one just yet).

I think I may have found the right one, but I'm not sure if it's compatible or not? http://www.notebooknerds.com/teac-cd-w2 ... pad-black/ Can someone please advise me if it will fit or not, and if not, give me a cheap place that will provide exactly what I need as I've been looking all day (and everyone seems to be taking the piss with their prices or it's out of stock)...

All I want is to be able to pop in an old CD and hear it without having to pay to download something I already have!

I would really appreciate if someone could help me out here.

Thanks.

If that fails, get a DVD-CDRW combo drive, $9.- and up on fleaBay: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sacat=0 ... 23&_sop=15

Hello "Daz",

why not take a moment to update your profile with your location. It will make it easier for sellers on our Forum to help you. You will find many parts for your T23 very cheaply in our marketplace here: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewforum.php?f=11

Don't go to "Fleecebay" for something like this! Unless you enjoy being lied to, cheated, swindled, sometimes never receiving your item, or receiving items "not as described" and then having to go to the Ebay police or Paypal prosecutors who sometimes take 2 weeks to a month to get your money back- if they get your money back at all. Then you still have to send the item back and return shipping fee is on you. (I've bought items from Ebay, and I've had all of these things happen to me :( )

I can tell you from experience that many CD/DVD Drives listed on Ebay as "tested" are not truly tested. Most Ebay sellers will not take the time to test CD Burning or DVD playing functions. The stuff they sell are simply pulled from de-commissioned T23 machines but these old T23 drives are sometimes loud and on their last leg. They may not play very smoothly and may even damage your CD. You might find a deal on Fleecebay, but many times what you find is a big headache with untested items and items not as described.

As a general rule, I would not recommend Ebay, and especially to inexperienced buyers.

If items are available in our marketplace, I say, "Buy from our marketplace! Why go to Ebay?"... Even if you pay a couple bucks more, don't always go for el-cheapo. You get what you pay for. And you're paying for good quality items and good service. Plus you avoid a potential hassle like you might find on Fleecebay. The sellers on the Forum here are much more trustworthy. They are much more likely to take the time to properly test their items. I happen to be a seller here, with excellent feedback, but there are many other excellent sellers in our marketplace, worthy of trust.

If you are interested, I have T23 drives for sale here:

FS: Memory,Drives,Docks,KB,WIFI,Battery,AC,SXGA+ LCD

All of my CD/DVD drives are fully tested, and in great functional and cosmetic condition.
