Is it any parameter to renew battery "needs to b replaced" ?

#1 Post by rychuu » Sun Jul 08, 2012 12:00 pm

I have few batteries which are poor condition and Lenovo's did not charge it. Is it any chip which can be resettable for get 3 minutes mobility? I need only 3 minutes... :)
I am using Lenovo t410 2518-4ju.

I bet it's much easier to borrow a battery from another, similar laptop, such as:
Lenovo ThinkPad T60/T61/R60/R61/X60/X61/T4xx/T5xx/W5xx/X2xx/E4xx/E5xx/L4xx/L5xx/ etc. Series.

Using any broken motherboard from a T60/T61/R60/R61/X60/X61/T400/T500 and newer Thinkpad and any dead battery for one of those, I made my own battery extension cord, by cutting out the battery connectors from such a dead mobo and such a dead battery, and soldering them together, using a length of 7-wire cable (cut out of an old IDE cable from a PC).
This lets me use ANY shape battery in ANY shape laptop that uses the same 7-pin battery connectors.

You could also try and find a T60 interposer card P/N 41W1130 and cut its connector in half and extend that (as above).
It's the leftmost black piece on this picture:

Have you ever used a battery that has a different voltage from the original fitting battery? I believe the majority of ThinkPad li-ion batteries come in 3-, 6- and 9-cell variations, i.e. 10.8V, but there are also 4- and 8-cell batteries (e.g. for X-series and tablets) that are 14.4V.

Yes, and it works both ways.

RealBlackStuff,

I don't have an interposer like that. Can I take the connector from a dead battery and mate it with the connector from a dead Thinkpad system board?
Planned Purchase: T480s i5-8350 FHD Touch
