Access Connections V5.93

Has Access Connections V5.93 been withdrawn? Do anyone know?

I have Access Connections V5.93 running, and I downloaded it from the Lenovo Driver matrix. But today only V5.92 is available.

I have an occasional issue lately where suspend fails (meaning a hard stop and startup with the attendant Windows error). I traced it to possibly the wireless card, and now I wonder it is Access Connections V5.93 causing the issue. The fail to suspend has only occurred recently (it always did work) and that timing agrees roughly with the V5.93 upgrade

Yes, I still have V5.92 and I know I can go backward.

When V5.93 works, it works fine. With 5.93 installed, there are times (about 1 in 7) where the machine will not suspend. It hangs, and the error code (reliability monitor) suggest wireless amongst other things. I notice at one client in particular, it goes searching for wireless (available but not set up) when I disconnect ethernet. Then sometimes the laptop will not suspend.

I went back to V5.92 and so far (36 hours) then problem has not come back.

What is interesting is that V5.93 is no longer available on the Lenovo Support site, only V5.92. That makes me think they pulled it for a reason.

I looked up several models via the Driver Matrix and it is no longer there.

I know it used to be because that is how I got it some weeks back. However it is gone now, anywhere I look. System Update does not suggest 5.93 to me either.

So you say 5.95 is due out. Then my guess is that I am not the only one with this bug (nasty) and so they pulled it and are waiting for the new version.

V5.95 is out for XP and has a list of problem fixes as long as your arm. V5.95 is not yet out for Windows 7 and V5.93 is not available so far as I can see. V5.92 is freely available. I continue to wait but obviously Lenovo is having issues getting Access Connections to work reliabily in 64-bit Windows 7. .... JDH

Hmmm, It must be that the Lenovo site over here in North America is different than what you get.

When I pull up the very link from your post, V5.95 is only for XP. The Windows 7 line only shows V5.92.

If you have an alternate link for V5.95 for Windows 7 64-bit, please post as I would like to try it. I am running V5.92. I have V5.93 but it caused some problems and I uninstalled it. It took quite a bit of effort to get V5.92 working correctly again but it is.

The laundry list of fixes under the XP link look like the bugs in V5.93 will be ironed out (which would be why they pulled that version, at least over here).

Thanks, .... JDH

@JDH

From my vantage point here in California, the site that Bill B. provided does lead to the Windows 7 version 5.95 of TVAC. Here's a screenshot:

Following on from Ray's post, I went to Lenovo Support UK. Access Connections V5.95 was available for download. Downloaded, installed, and now working.

So 24 hours later, the link Bill B. posted leads to V5.95 as it should. It did not do so yesterday (I double checked before posting). So it must have been working its way through the system (not one of Lenovo's strengths). I have downloaded it and will install it within the hour. Thanks, .... JDH

The same story is repeating, 5.95 withdrawn and 5.93 reverted back. Does it mean we should always ignore the most recent version ? :?

I went back and looked because V5.96 is out for XP but not yet for Windows 7. I could not find V5.95 anywhere, although I found it earlier with tips here and downloaded it. So far, I am fairly happy with V5.95. I still have to use specific steps to use my Nokia USB Internet, but otherwise, no problems with V5.95. I found V5.92 to be stable, but I had problems with V5.93.

If V5.92 works for you, I would stay there until V5.96 comes out. ... JDH

5.95 connects much faster via internal F5521gw WWAN than 5.93 so I hope 5.96 won't break it.

It appears Lenovo developers are having problems.

Access Connections 5.95 has been pulled as discussed above. I have it running quite well
System Update V5 (forcibly updated on my T61p) has been pulled. I have it running but not tested.
Hard Disk Protection. 1.77.08 has been pulled. I refuse to try based on Lenovo forum complaints.

These are key underpinnings for our machines and Lenovo appears to have lost its way.

There is new version 5.97 for Windows 7 released 14 Oct 2012 http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloa ... D=DS013683

Anyone has tried ? I'd wait at least one month based on recent experiences with reverting back to older versions.

I've had AC 5.97 installed since 10/17, and not experienced any issues. HDP and SU since 10/10 too. I've not seen any hiccups with HDP, and I've run SU successfully several times since, but it would be hard to tell if it's not pulling down the newest packages.

Perhaps any issues that have them pulling these builds are ones related to newer models. :?

There was another thread about this and in there, I posted that I had finally been able to download HDAP from the driver matrix and other upgrades. All are working fine.

I got AC V5.97 just now and will try it out tomorrow.

AC 5.97 seems to be working. Lo and behold!! the Driver Matrix for my machine now lists all current updates. This is new. It has been months since Driver Matrix was anywhere near up to date.

Still, today, Software Update (even the new version) does not list new updates. Just old ones.

Hmm. I suppose you're checking a different model, and for some reason Lenovo is not cross-referencing all the newest compatible updates with your model despite their compatibility. This has happened to me with the T61, and when I didn't see an update for some regularly updated ThinkVantage app, I went and looked at listings for newer models. Of course, there were some T61-compatible updates (listed on the download page) cross-referenced to those models, and which weren't done so for the T61 until later on. It seems very much like human error, since you would think something like that would be added automatically to the current driver/app lists for all compatible models; especially if the right kind of database were updated. :?

The T61 driver lists (when I can access directly) have been current for me lately, and even Google has been caching it frequently enough for when it hasn't. SU has been consistently behind even a few builds ago, though. Again, the model-specific packages may not be updated as newer models despite new compatible updates being available.

Ok, 5.97 works fine.

BTW according this post there will be no Access Connections for Windows 8.
