Two mini pci-e slots = Two mSata drives?

#1 Post by Phidelio » Sun Aug 05, 2012 7:56 am

Hi guys!

I just got myself a w520 and was thinking about getting an mSata as my 3rd hard drive. I am however wondering; since there are two pcie slots in the w520 (wifi/wimax uninstalled), maybe it would be possible to install two mSatas and then stripe them? 8) Anyone know if this is possible? Thank you :)
Currently has a silly amount of Thinkpads: 600|600e|T20|R31|R40|R50e|R60e|T40|T40p|T41|X40|X40|X41Tablet|T61p|T61p|T61p wuxga
The best Thinkpad ever made? The T41p - hands down!
(feel free to comment but I dont think it can be argued...)

(An admin/mod might want to move this to the W520 board.)

I'm pretty confident this is not possible. Mini pci-e is necessary but not sufficient to support mSATA; the main board must also include additional circuitry and I have never heard that this was done for the WiFi slot as well as the WWAN slot.
