Client Security Solution Logon Problem

#1 Post by perth1951 » Mon Aug 06, 2012 11:55 pm

Hi,

RE:
Lenovo T60 Product/Type: 1951 – BQ3, Windows XP Professional, Anti-Virus Avast
A couple of days ago I have received the reminder form Avast to re-register the basic Anti-virus protection, as it was due to expire in the next 48 hours. I believe I did just that as I did 12 months ago. Now, the next day I have experience the following problem and I can not use the PC.

After Startup, the screen displays the usual message :

Please wait…
Checking the status of the embedded security chip…

and 20 minutes later the following message appear:

Client Security Solution Logon…..
There was a problem connecting to a critical service. It is possible that the anti-virus or firewall software is blocking the connection. Also, check to make sure that the TMP device driver is installed and enabled.
OK?

after I select OK, the window message appears :

CTRL + ALT + DELETE
then the message window:

Log on to Windows
USER
PASSWORD

after that I get the message

Please wait…..
Loading your personal settings….

A few minutes later, the usual screen background appears, but without the usual Desktop icons and without the Taskbar. Also, the PC freezes and the only available option appear to be is to hold down the Power button until the PC is switched off.

Any suggestions, please?
Thanks
Tom

After hitting the power button, keep pressing F8 until you see a boot menu.
Select "Safe Mode without networking".
That should get you in.
Once there, UNinstall Avast.
Reboot into 'normal' Windows, that should now work.
Now go online to this link: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download ... px?id=5201
and get/install the free "Microsoft Security Essentials" antivirus.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
