UPDATE: (9/14/12)
The actual cause of this issue is due to an electrostatic discharge between the system and the docking station or port replicator. A kit of molded conductive rubber tips are available from Lenovo to resolve the problem. The settings in Notebook Hardware Control as mentioned below are not a likely contributor to the behavior.

UPDATE: (8/26/12)
After more than a month of aggravation, the issue was isolated to a setting in Notebook Hardware Control (NHC). Under the “CPU Speed Control Tab”, the box for “Set selected Power Scheme” MUST be checked. Otherwise, the system will shut down immediately whenever Resume is invoked either by lifting the laptop lid or pressing the Fn key. This behavior will occur regardless of whether the machine is docked.
Takeaway: If you use NHC with ThinkVantage Power Manager, make sure settings that are common to both applications are set to the same values.

Since mid-July, my T43 has sporadically failed to wake from Sleep mode when it is attached to my IBM Mini-Dock and the lid is lifted open. This also sometimes occurs when I leave the lid open after invoking Sleep mode with Fn + F4, then pressing Fn to wake the system.
Furthermore, this causes the system to shut down immediately, and I cannot turn the laptop back on unless I eject it from the mini-dock, pull the 9-cell battery from the battery bay for a few seconds, then re-insert it. At that point, I reattach the T43 to the mini-dock and reboot.
I have reviewed all settings for any conflicts between Windows XP's "Power Options" and the Lenovo Power Manager. I have been using NHC (Notebook Hardware Control) and it does not appear to cause the issue. I've Googled the issue extensively and cannot find a potential driver conflict. The lid switch appears to work fine. Note: this behavior does not occur when using the T43 undocked on battery power. I have not, however, checked to see if this issue occurs when undocked using AC power
I believe this may be an issue related to corrosion on the battery contacts and/or the multi-pin connectors on the bottom of the T43 and on the Mini-Dock. I performed a cursory cleaning on the contacts with a small nylon brush, but I am getting ready to break out the wood alcohol and really scrub them down.
I have gone back and uninstalled / reinstalled numerous software updates one by one, and the issue persists.
Has anyone else here experienced these symptoms when using a T-series system with the IBM Mini-Dock?
