Secondary monitor... issues...

Hi,

May I know if this is true and what advise can I get to solve this problem.

Using a W520, I plugged in my Samsung BX2450 as an external monitor on extended mode. Playing youtube full screen on the external monitor will result in lags and the video is not smooth at all as compared to playing full screen on the laptop's monitor.

May I know where did I go wrong or what do I miss?

Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Not sure about this, but I think the graphics accerlator can only support video overlay on the primary monitor. You might try switching the external to primary, then try playing the video on it. See if that makes any difference.

Yes I tried what you suggested and the full screened youtube videos played better, advise me please, so if I happen to buy a 12.5" ThinkPad and I get a bigger extended external monitor for the purpose of watching videos, I have set the external as primary? Forgive this noob...

Yes, I think that would be the case. It's not really a matter of which laptop, or what size display it has, but rather most, if not all, graphics adapters only provide video overlay on one monitor at a time. Not really a bad thing, and makes sense most of the time.
