Hi Person,

What criteria are you using to define best?

New SSDs are being announced regularly that are faster.
Most current SSDs are pretty fast.
My first priority is reliability, then low power consumption.
Look for a 5+ year warranty.

My laptop, modest price, current first choice is the Plextor M3 Pro.
And I would take the M3 Pro over the newer M5 Pro until they get the M5 firmware dialed in.

For really BEST, look at enterprise drives.
And be prepared to spend thousands on a 500GB one.

For what it's worth, I have A Samsung in my X41T, an OWC Mercury in my T410 and an Intel 320 series in my X200S.
Performance is way better than with the original rotating drives.

Thanks and good health, Weogo

I have recently been investigating about the "best" (= most reliable, fastest overall) 7 mm SSD, and I have come to the conclusion that it is the Intel 520-series that's "best", from my perspective. If you have the time and energy to spend a bit of time yourself seriously going to the details, then I'm sharing the following references (reviews) with you:

Since your X230T is a 6 GB/s device, it will fully support a SATA-3 SSD (see the Lenove TAbook)

I voted for the Intel 520 - in the poll and with my pocket book. 5 year warranty and very good performance.

You'd be hard pressed to perceive any performance difference between SSDs. They're all fast. I would buy on price, which would seem to favor the Crucial.

Isn't Intel is the only one with a 5 year warranty?
Weogo wrote:For really BEST, look at enterprise drives.
I need it to be 7mm because 9.5mm won't fit in the machine.

There are 480gb and 512gb SSD's for hundreds.

Whoa! Thanks for the impressive list!

I've been considering it.

True. I just like to research before spending alot.

I added "Plextor MP5" and "Other" as options.

Plextor 256GB M5S Series Solid State Drive SATA 6.0 Gb-s
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008OX1ZFE/

http://www.storagereview.com/plextor_la ... controller

According to this it is 7mm apparently.
Vertex 3 has 7mm models but Vertex 4 does not.
Any benchmarks or comparisons to other SSD's?

Added "Plextor M5P" and "Other" to the poll options.
The votes reset but I think it was 1 for each.

Alright, thanks for the advice.
