RAID 0 and RAID 1 questions about laptops and separation

I want to have 2 identical SSD's for backup if 1 fails.

To do this, I will use the Thinkpad X230T adapter bay 3.

But, it needs to be removed sometimes when being mobile.

Is it possible to reattach them and resync them easily?

If so, how do you reattach and resync them properly?

I have never done any RAID before; so I'm new to this.

BTW I'm using Windows 7 Professional.

Is your x230's duties so mission critical that it requires a RAID1 array?

Since you're using SSD's, you could instead:
- Continue using your internal SSD as your main drive
- Backup or replicate the main drive to your spare SSD as frequently as you'd like.

Because you're using SSD's, you'll notice the process is amazingly fast.

Avoid using Windows RAID arrays since they aren't widely used by industry that usually deploys mission critical systems on purpose built servers with dedicated RAID controllers.
