hello
i have 2 password before booting the OS
an power on password and a hard drive password

letters don't appear on the screen ( i say "huumm , bad trip " inside my head
when i want to write the "2" and the "$" it "bips" , some letters works others don't

i take an external keyboard but same thing some letters don't appear and bips
unable to enter BIOS setup because i have to write the password before
so i unmount every thing

Remove the battery pack.
Remove the backup battery remove ram , hard drive
and nothing change

my keyboard is in a strange mode i can't solve
i am looking for help

( i ask a friend who is IT boy and he tell me to buy a JETWAY motherboard and build a itx PC ..... that's help !! but i love my thinkpad and i want to resolve this crazy problem .
i hope someone will help me (if you can read and understand my broken language ....sorry i am a french man .....

It would help a great deal if you tell us the 7-character TYPE from the bottom of the laptop.
That way we know at least WHAT laptop you are talking about...
Try to remove and then reattach the keyboard, see if that helps.

Check the ScrlLk/NumLk button along the top, it might be ON.
With Fn/NumLk you can switch NumLock on/off.
Then try again.

thanks for your help but it don't work
even with the external keyboard who bips too ( the same keys bips on both )
the fn key works because i can make it go to sleep by pushing fn + f4
i call an other guy who is a good technician and he say too me that is certainly something like RAKSHASA

(the f*****g Jonathan Brossard malware

)
i can't believe it

.
the jetway motherboard to build a itx deskop cost more than 200$ in europe
i cry a second time
thanks again for that you say to me if you have an other idea i take it .

There are much cheaper and better boards from e.g. Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, Intel, to name a few.
If there was a Rakhshasa backdoor in your T510i (or any other laptop or PC) we would have heard of it by now.
Tell your IT friend to jump into the Garonne with that overpriced junk Jetway motherboard.
And then tell your Rakshasa friend to also jump into the river.
Hopefully you have other friends left with a bit more knowledge!
Have you spilled any coffee, tea, water, beer, wine etc. over your keyboard?
If you remove the laptop keyboard, does the external keyboard still have problems?

i try what you say but always the same
impossible to make a "2" , all the numbers line bips
all special caracters bips too (^ $ ù % *µ ! ; , ) on both keyboard ( the thing the most incredible is that the external keyboard bips and act like the internal one , because it's fully working i am writing with it just right now )so i can say it's not a keyboard problem but a motherboard or BIOS setup or eeprom or something more difficult to resolve
for my friend you tell me the jetway motherboard , i don't say to him to go swim in the garonne

because he is right
the processor is intel I5 450M socket g1 aka rPGA988A , it exists 2 motherboard in the whole world , a jetway and a commell
asus gigabyte and the others leading brand don't build such product
for the RAKSHASA boy i would like to say to him to go with the first one , swimming in the garonne

, but for the moment
his answer is still possible because no tea no coffee on my keyboard
thanks for your help and your good ideas , for the garonne joke too

(i will use it when someone will ask me a dumb questions i will say
"please , go jump into the Garonne " it's better than f**k off

Switch the laptop off, remove the main battery and the AC adapter.
Then hold down the power-button on the keyboard for ca 20-30 seconds.
This will reset the laptop.
Now only connect the AC adapter and try to boot. Does the keyboard work now?
If not, I'm out of ideas, other than try another T510i keyboard.

I was going to suggest removing the internal keyboard and boot with an external keyboard only, before I remembered that the power button is on the keyboard.

i try everything , even boot , unplug the internal , try to connect with the external
unmount the RAM unmount HDD
everything unmount bios battery push the "on " button to empty capacitors
it's totally crazy , the pc is on my desktop , i live alone , i use it every day , no coffee no tea while working on it
the first password is impossible to reset it's a super security system tatooed into a chip so it's impossible to reset I'm not skilled enough to pull the chip and solder another so it's dead
thanks you guys for your help but i think it's over
my first pc was a T30 (super good )after i got a T43 (super good ) and After a R52 (good ), i own a T61p (good but quality low ), a T500 (good ) and now a T510i ( not good bad quality ),
i am a thinkpad user since the beginning . now I think thinpad no longer exist since IBM abandoned the project , at the beginning it was super computer , undestructible , now it's just a computer like asus or toshiba , so i won't buy an another thinkpad because quality is over.

If you don't like that machine any more, I can always use it for parts.
Let me know via PM please if you want to get rid of it.

But you know what? You haven't tried replacing the internal keyboard with a good one yet, have you?

no i won't replace the internal keyboard because i am fed up
i don't want to repair it anymore ,this lenovo pc sucks ,
and i won't send you the pc because i am in france and you are in usa
the cost is to expensive and i hate him now
i want to destroy his face and make it burn
so i buy a RAMOS W30HD on PANDAWILL.COM (for mobility )
and next month the jetway motherboard and a lian li PC-Q09F
i realize that it's useless to buy such pc ( expensive and low quality ) i prefer pay less and change more often ( cheap and low quality , when it's broken you smile , you don't cry , i prefer )
