New Thinkpad, where to download trackpoint software

#1 Post by mattdocs12345 » Thu May 09, 2013 4:15 pm

Okay so all my previous thinkpads had Function + F8 option to manage pointing devices properties. Most importantly I was able to increase the trackpoint sensitivity. I have just bought thinkpad X230 and I cannot find this software. It's not pre-installed and it's not found on lenovo website. Can anybody help? My trackpoing is utterly slow....

See item 2 in the forum FAQ.

What you want is the Ultranav driver for the TrackPoint and Hotkey Features driver for Fn + F8.

Nope. I did that as well. The hotkey software for windows 8 doesn't come with any trackpoint accelerator software that windows 7 and all previous version of windows had. All i get is On Screen Display and Lenovo Patch.
Any other ideas how to get trackpoint to be more responsive? It is totally killing my user experiance, my finger literally hurts from scrolling...

Not sure if this will apply to the X230, but for my X220 I had to download an older version of hotkey features to get full functionality from it. That said, this seems more like an ultranav driver problem to me. The ultranav driver is what actually controls the TrackPoint and TouchPad. Perhaps an older version of the ultranav driver would make a difference (if you can find it)?

Okay I finally figured it out. Windows 8 Ultra nav software and drivers are no longer accessible via Fn-F8. That shortcut was changed to screen brightness control. For some reason the only option to access trackpoint settings is via Control Panel --> mouse. Funny part is that when I re-installed Ultra nav software and drivers, I had not seen anywhere the trackpoint functionality as it was with windows 7. I think lenovo did poor job software wise. They should have created one applications where you can access all settings so that both new and old users can easily figure out what's going on. It took me over 3 days to find out how to change trackpoint settings.... But in the end it works :)
