Connect classic ThinkPad charger to IdeaPad U310

My brother has 3 ThinkPads and many ThinkPad chargers (65W and 90W) scattered around the house. Now they also bought an IdeaPad U310 but it has a different charger connector.

It uses the same voltage as the ThinkPads, 20V, and its charger is very small, only 40W, so even the small ThinkPad charger (65W) should be enough to power it.

Is there an adapter available with IdeaPad plug on one end and ThinkPad socket on the other?

If not, has anyone attempted to make it? Any reason why it shouldn't work?

Cheers,
yak

The DC-connector plug is the same as on the older 16V/56w/72W adapters as used on e.g. T20/T30/T4x/R5x.
Diameter outside: 5.5mm = Ground
Diameter inside : 2.5mm = Plus
You could easily make an adapter of the T60/T61 motherboard connector with the cable-plug (or buy in an electronics shop) from an old 16V adapter.

Thanks, RBS.

Time to do some shopping on eBay then.
I'll update the thread if I end up doing it.
