is 15K Rpm hdd on Thinkpad possible ?

hello everyone
im have an w510. im planning to upgrade my hdd, i dont want to use sdd because i dont trust them, i always feel like theyre might die any moment.
i found this hdd s, theyre 2.5" . can i use one of them with my thinkpad ?
will it overheat ?

I believe that drive is meant for enterprise applications in server machines. Looking at the datasheet, it says the height of the drive is 15mm. The other dimensions are about the same as a laptop drive (70mm wide and 100mm long). I don't have a W510 but I don't think you can put a 15mm high drive in there.

I've put put super spinners (10k+ rpm mechanical drives) in laptops in the past, and even if they did fit, heat was always an issue. I think it was a dell xps i tried last. Drive exeeded 60 degrees celsius on idle. Which is way over the safe and normal 35-45 c range.

what about performance ? compared to the ssd s ?
i have an idea to solve heat problem. i will buy an external hdd enclosure and a ultrabay hdd adapter. i will cut 2 holes in the adapter for cables. than i will extend cables with usual sata cables to the hdd. i will use is as external hdd but it will connect with sata. so there will be no performance gaps, and if i need i can increase cooling (with additional fans etc.)

Ok, that might just work. It'll look like [censored] and it'll be a pain to move the computer, but the wiring, as you described it, is sound.
As for speed. No spinner is as fast as an ssd. And for the record i never got as far as to bench them. 60 celsius at idle would fried the drives in load.

looks like i should go with an ssd and a second hdd for sensitive data.
