IBM SpaceSaver II Keyboard (RT3200) Setup Problem (Win 7)

Hi all, I recently purchased a IBM Spacesaver II keyboard (RT3200) so that I could use a trackpoint with a "full-size" keyboard when I've got my X201 laptop hooked up to an external monitor. It's a PS2 model, but I was able to get an active PS2->USB adapter that allows me to use all the functions, including the middle scroll button when using Lenovo's "USB trackpoint keyboard" driver.

Unfortunately this driver does not install a settings tab in the mouse settings control panel, so I can't enable press-to-click, or adjust the sensitivity of the track point. The default sensitivity was very slow, so I've had to turn my main mouse sensitivity all the way up, which makes me mis-click a lot when using the mouse devices on the X201. I've iterated through a ton of drivers (and tried changing various registry settings), but have never been able to successfully adjust the trackpoint settings. Does anyone have any experience in successfully setting up this keyboard (or the full USB equivalent) in Windows 7?

I've seen some posts about using USB ultranav travel keyboards (and their associated drivers), but unfortunately those don't work for this keyboard model.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

First uninstall and delete all the drivers.
Then if you are on windows 7 or windows 8 try installing the XP drivers under compatibility mode.

Thanks, will do.

And you think I should try sticking with the "USB Keyboard with Trackpoint" drivers?

Unfortunately the actual driver install files don't actually update the drivers for the keyboard/trackpoint. I tried installing them in XP-compatibility mode, but when the install was done, the mouse and keyboard were still just identified as a HID-compliant mouse/keyboard. I have to go into the driver settings for those devices and then update the drivers. I tried selecting the non-Windows7/8 drivers, but it didn't fix the issue. I have control over the scroll button and everything works, but I just can't adjust any options to enable press-to-select or ramp up the TP sensitivity.

Hi,

Could you please post more details on how you managed to get your spacesaver to work. I'm trying to install mine using this driver on windows 8 with no luck...

Thanks
