Looking for a clean OEM ISO of Win XP Pro

#1 Post by TRS-80 » Thu Feb 13, 2014 11:37 am

I am replacing a failing HDD in my R51, so I need to reinstall the OS.

Thanks to this wonderful site, I have acquired a set of 5 recovery discs for my machine. But reading some more now, going that route restores the machine to factory stock, including a recovery partition.

I am only using a 40GB HDD, so I need all of that space and would like to forgo the recovery partition (I am going to image my new clean installation after I am all done with everything anyway). I would like to just install vanilla OEM Win XP Pro (and my drivers of course) and that's it. This would also skip whatever bloatware comes with the recovery.

Obviously I have a COA on the bottom of my R51, but problem is I have no media. I have DLed a torrent of supposedly vanilla OEM XP Pro, but I would rather not go that route unless necessary, as you never know what may have been baked into that by the torrent creator. It is especially sketchy in the case of an operating system.

So I am asking if anyone has an OEM ISO of XP Pro installation media from a legit, non-sketchy source and can help me out. If so, please post here or maybe PM me?

I hope this is OK with mods, not looking to do anything illegal or pirate here, as I said obviously I have a COA already just no installation media. And of course you can't get any from M$ or even Lenovo, even with a COA (already tried that route)...
Maintning and upgrading a few aT4x/R5x on the cheap! :) They are truck mounted in my landscape company. I have some PCs and Android devices as well.

I am pleased to report that within an hour, not one but two people have already answered my call. First one made an ISO of their legit copy which I am now downloading, and second one pointed me to a torrent of an apparently known, verified version of a Dell OEM ISO.

So I just wanted to say, thanks guise!

I have only been here a few days but feel like a part of the gang already. :) Wonderful community you guys have here.
