Uninstalled Rescue and Recovery now X61 t vista won't boot

So, this was all a trial trying to upgrade to Win 7 on this machine. The Vista install was just getting slower and slower.

The win 7 installer wouldn't let me continue without removing DISKEEPER 2007 first, which wouldn't install via the regular windows installer. So, I had to edit - remove the DISKEEPER registry entries, in order to be able to delete the DISKEEPER folder in the user programs folder.

Fine, there was also this issue around the THINKPAD BUTTON xyz something, which I couldn't find any registry entries for, and I had already remove the program in the Unistall programs dialogue, and yet the computer thought it was still there.

Fine, upon reboot of all this Rescue and Recovery comes up and won't let even a SIMPLE REBOOT occur. I'm pretty sure I'd rebooted already since removing the DISKEEPER junk, but can't say.

The REGEDIT application MAY have been open still when the computer went into a reboot on its own.

Regardless, I can't get past the R&R coming up and nothing will allow a normal boot to proceed?

I thought I'd actually REMOVED it, but it's still there.

Any thoughts on working around it, getting it past this, or having the boot look for the actual boot drive? I do think there was the regular dual-partition stuff resident still that was coming of TP's of this era
