I have a T41 from my employer: no admin rights, fully encrypted disk, VPN to access internet, restricted websites, blocked USB, and a log file that records everything which is "suspect".
As I neither want to buy my own laptop, nor to travel with to laptops just to be able to read my personal email and download pictures from my camera through the USB, I thought of installing a 2nd HDD and a dual boot. Here are my questions:
- is this feasible?
- where should the be 2nd hdd? (ultrabay? pcmcia?)
- is changing the BIOS (which suprisingly is not protected!) the optimal way of selecting the boot?
- any other great ideas?
Thank you for reading my messange, and helping me if you can!
2nd hdd + dual boot on T41?

Ultrabay will work. Use F12 at startup to select boot device.
The machine may log it.
Is it worth getting fired over?
I'd be looking for a new employer or buying my own machine. I've had local admin rights on every work computer I've ever had, and I work for an employer who is very proactive on security.
But I also have my own laptop, and they let me use it for travelin'.
