I got this old IBM ThinkPad messenger bag, and i want to know how old it is.

I've checked everywhere inside and outside, but i could not find any markings.

I can take more pictures if needed.

Found this card inside in a small pocket (nice number):

Welcome to the forum!

My work-issued T20 came with the exact same bag in May of 2000.

That's the era that these bags - along with ThinkPads - were extremely popular with large corporations.

Interesting.

Thanks for the info!

I think i'll actually use this myself, i like the air-filled cushions.
It also seems sturdier than some of the other bags i've had, like it was built to last...

I once found a similar bag in a local Goodwill. I bought it and was amazed how thick and sturdy the bag was put together! I eventually gave it away to a friend. Considering that ThinkPads were very expensive back then I am sure an official bag like that needed to be well made!

indeed... i suspect that the build quality of both laptops and bags was higher due to the price...

nowdays people look at laptops as something they can replace in a couple years, so the price and build quality goes down...

priorities i guess.

The G40 in my collection, also came with a bag like this, according to my wife. Her bag has fabric instead of plastic handles, otherwise it's the same. She still uses this bag, and it seems so durable and sturdy that I ordered one for myself too on eBay. What I failed to see was that the auction was for a lot of 3 bags, so now I have a bag to use, and 2 in spare. :-) One was previously used, as it had the business card of an US insurance company employee in it, the other 2 seem unused.

Bought this at a local flea market for 5 bucks a few weeks ago. Its basically new, minimal wear. Just a bit dirty right now.

I use it to carry around a Dell... Sold all my Thinkpads with the exception of two (X41 & X120E), and neither is fast enough for my daily needs. I also had to give back my Thinkpad T440p when left my last job. The withdraw is kicking in.

Very nice backpack.

I am really, really wanting to get a motorcycle in the next year so I will need to switch from messenger bags to a backpack. Yours looks very good.

* Mental note to self: look for Thinkpad backpack.
