Where did the 11 gb go?

I had to remove a WD Sata 160 gb sata drive(WD1600BEVT-2) from a laptop to scan it for virii and malware! This Lenovo G530 laptop would not even boot from the hard drive!

Anyhow I checked the drives with Ontrack Easy Recovery and it reported the drive as 149.05 Gb! where did the other 11gb go?

I then used LLF to do a low level format and LLF reported it as as 160.04gb! the actual size of the drive!

I then used my favorite reformat, wipe all partition, software Linux Gpart and Gpart reported this WD Sata drive as 149.05gb! Where did the other 11gb go?

Any thoughts suggestions? Did a mystery virus delete this 11gb or mark it as bad? I'm open to any suggestions!

I have screen shots of the above Sw proggies reported HD size but there are no attachments capabilities here.

thanks in advance Eto

See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gigabyte#Consumer_confusion for an explanation of the "missing" 11GB.
