Is there any way to map key "Fn"+ other key to some function?
For example to control winamp.

Seems to be hard, if not impossible. It appears that the 'Fn' key generates no 'Key-down' event, only the 'Key-up' event.

Most software/GUI will want to hear the 'Key-down' event.

Apparently, the 'Fn' key gets some special treatment by the way it is wired in the keyboard. Fancy, that.

Is there a way to map the function key to another button?

I use an external keyboard at my docking station, and would really like to use the Fn functions without having to reopen my thinkpad... Thanks

this little app, changes the registery so that any key can be mapped to any other key, it works on the OS level, so no need to keep a program running or something.

I don't know about the Fn key, but you can create Touch Zones with the Ultranav wizard, where you can perform a macro by touching a specific corner of the Touchpad. You could use this Touch Zone feature to launch WinAmp.

Isn't this what the keyboard customizer utility does? I don't use an external keyboard, but it does have a tab there for re-mapping functions when using one. I use it to remap some of the "windows" key functions with the normal keyboard. In paticular I map right-alt-L for windows-l (lock) and left-alt-r for windows-r (run).

I checked the Keyboard Customizer Utility and it doesn't seem to allow for configuring the FN key.

Right, but it provides for using the functions that the function keys do, on other keys. Including creating media play type controls...
