New Battery vs Old Battery for everyday use

Ok I know battery issues have been discussed ad nasseaum but i have a specific question.
I just got a new virgin battery to suplement my aging one. The old one can hold an 1:15 minute charge. The new one looks like 2:30, pretty normal. So..... Should I keep the old one in my laptop as I use AC 85% of the time, will it extend the newness of my new one? Or use the new one as the "main" battery?

That entirely depends on how much you value a battery's function as a UPS while working on something you don't want to lose. If it's down to mere minutes of holding time, I'd be using the new one.

I would use the old battery during the 85% of the time your plugged in or whenever you need to be unplugged for less than one hour. During the 15% of your usage that you need max. battery, use the new one. That way you will get max use out of both of them. Run the old one until it dies and extend the useful life of your new one.

put the new battery at 40% load in the fridge (sealed and dry) and use the old battery for daily AC operation.

The battery in the fridge would stay fresh for VERY long time (it hardly deteriorates over the years), while the one on AC will lose its capacity completely over the years.

I made those tests myself for years and am very happy. Actually, I bought an old worn-out battery (holds 30 minutes) for a few bucks on eBay as a safety battery, while saving the good one in the fridge.

And that is no joke, but highly recommended

SO.....how many new batteries do you have in your fridge? need to charge it at 40% and put in the fridge?

Just one, the 9cell I use for business trips.

Daily operations are with the old worn-out 6 cell battery, that is used as a backup during AC operations.
