100GB 7200RPM Pricing Announced

#1 Post by fbrdphreak » Mon Jun 06, 2005 2:44 am

I know a month or so ago a bunch of people were wondering about the 100GB 7200RPM drives.

Hitachi 7K100 100GB 7200RPM Pricing Announced

Seagate 7200.1 100GB 7200RPM Pricing Announced

The Seagate drives should be available at resellers sometime in June (I'm guessing late June). Best info on the Hitachi is Q4 '05.

The Seagate drive has been listed for sale here, so it looks like street prices will be significantly lower.

You can't access the site? PM me if you still have issues

Unfortunately we don't have either of the drives on hand yet. I will have the Seagate model very soon and last I heard the Hitachi will arrive at some point, but since it has such a late release date it might be a while.

BTW, I will be using the T43 in my sig to bench the Seagate ;)

Please use the General Hardware forum for all matters not related to the T series.

I would have posted there but I know a number of members here were specifically inquiring about these hard drives. If you would like to copy it there, that would be great :)
Thanks!

That's much less than the upgrade for it on the Dell Laptops.
Thank god it's reasonable!!! I'm so glad Dell backordered the 60gb, now I can just get the 100gb. :D

Dell back ordered it because they don't have any ;) Or had very few
Hitachi won't be releasing the drives en masse for a while longer. Seagate should be out anytime now in June

Nagging question here, but if I get a T43, am I going to need any bios hacks to get either the 7200rpm 100GB Hitachi or Seagate to work? Also, will either drive cause the bios to display some error message every time I boot?
