[BIOS] Can the Supervisor password be just "enter"?

#1 Post by 1tntla » Sun Jan 31, 2016 3:54 am

Hello guys,

Just bought x220t from ebay and found that when I try to enter bios, a lock icon shows up. I press enter and it just goes through. It has computrace on as well so I plan to call them on Monday.

As for the bios password, would this mean that the supervisor password is just "enter"?

Thanks,

No. From the sound of it, the BIOS option to allow READING of the BIOS settings is in effect. Specifically, the "Security/Password/Lock UEFI BIOS Settings" is ENABLED. There is still a Supervisor password set. Whatever you do, DO NOT remove the backup battery otherwise you will not be able to boot any OS.

@rkawakami

Thanks!

If that's the case, flashing the eeprom (quick google search) is my only option unless eBay seller (unlikely since it is a reseller), can provide me with the bios pass?

Returning the system to the seller is another viable option...
