I've been confused since I first got my laptop. what is the difference between this and the "normal" usb? It seems that IBM provided a DVD+/-RW drive special for this port, is this the only product that can take advantage of this port? This would be stupid.

I found this in the internet:

http://www.usbpluspower.org/

Are they the same thing? can anybody tell me? thanks!

Dell has a port like this on the X300, but I believe it's keyed differently on the power slot.

It would be too simple for there to be a standard with this stuff so you wouldn't have to buy Dell's $300 external drive...
