W530 Audio issue - Speakers not working, Audio jack ok

#1 Post by TaffyBoy » Mon Apr 24, 2017 5:15 pm

Hi,
Recent emerging issue the speakers stopped working.
Been using the headphone jack a lot recently but with some speaker use too. Today speakers just stopped working.
I've uninstalled/reinstalled audio drivers, gone through troubleshooting but still no sound from the speakers.
How is the heaphone jack connection sensed?
I'm thinking that if the jack is sensed as connected then the speakers are disconnected.
The trouble with that idea is that in the Sound box display only the Speaker/HP (Realtek HD Audio) icon is shown with the green check mark (set as default), no headphone jack or any other icon.
Show disabled devices is checked.
Any help/suggestions would be most welcome, Thanks.

Anyone?
Moderator, may I have permission to post in the general Hardware forum as it seems to get many more views than this one please.
I'd be happy to delete this thread and start another there if that's ok too.
Thanks.

I have the exact same problem with my W530. I thought it was because I opened up the box and swapped hard drives around. I can connect speakers to the headphone jack, but somehow, that's probably not the best solution. Please post any progress, and I will do the same.
