Sony MDR-XB950B1 Bluetooth headphones with ThinkPad R51 and Windows XP ?

I use my ThinkPad R51 as "jukebox" with VLC player connected to Hi-Fi amplifier because the analog audio output quality is surprisingly good unlike X220 and many other current laptops.

My almost 20 years old Sennheiser HD 265 headphones are getting old and I think about a Bluetooth headphones. Has anyone tried to use Sony MDR-XB950B1 with an ancient Windows XP system (SP3 + POS patches) and Bluetooth card from R51 models era ? I am not sure whether it will work because it is Bluetooth 3.0 only and old drivers. It does not make sense to ask about Windows XP compatibility these days in general audio forums :)

Thanks.

I still don't know whether the lack of Bluetooth 4.0 is problem or not. In the worst case I would use ThinkPad 8 tablet as music source (its terrible analog audio output is not an issue here) but I would prefer current ThinkPad R51 setup. Just asking if anyone has tried such setup by a chance.

I'll get my X30 XP SP3 and test my CSR BT 4.0 dongle.

Bluetooth 4.0 encapsulates all the previous Bluetooth standards while adding new features, so from that perspective, it shouldn't be a problem.
