Battery health settings?

#1 Post by Edward Mendelson » Mon Aug 14, 2017 4:53 pm

Here's a mildly puzzling question that came up because I've set up a dual-boot system with 64-bit Windows 10 and 32-bit Windows 7 on a ThnkPad X240s.

Because this machine is now three years old, and Lenovo doesn't seem to want to manufacture new batteries for it (both batteries are internal), I thought I would turn on the Battery Health option in the Lenovo power settings.

Under Windows 10, the Lenovo Settings app offers to set the charging limit to 80% to preserve battery health.

Under Windows 7, the older Lenovo Power Manager wants to set the charging limit to 50%, not 80%.

Does anyone have any opinion about which makes more sense?
