Thinkpad power beep sounds?

#1 Post by oeuvre » Mon Aug 28, 2017 10:33 pm

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has recorded the sounds ThinkPads make when you plug/unplug the power cord. Also would like the low battery beep (not the power manager low battery alerts, the PC speaker beeps). Thanks

While I believe that it won't matter too much (beeps probably similar across all models), exactly which Thinkpad(s) does this query concern? The W520 here makes the same "deee dooop" sound when unplugging and plugging in the AC adapter. Don't know about the low battery sound as this one is fully charged and will take several hours before it's exhausted.

My T420 makes those beeps too, as did my W530. Not sure about *40 and newer ones. The oldest ThinkPad I've owned is an A series and a T21 and they both did that too.

If you have a Thinkpad with Windows, those sounds are available as .wav files.
Check in Control Panel/Sound/Sounds tab.
AFAIK those files are stored in C:|Windows\Media
