patje mobility modding.. wha?

#1 Post by skanky » Wed Jun 22, 2005 8:11 am

i have a T42 with a 7500 (yeah yeah dont laugh!), anyhow i'd like to try the 5.6 catalyst drivers.

following the instructions on patje's page telling me to download the latest driver but which one, there a "normal" one and one "for notebook" --the notebook one is for the X series cards i assume so do i use that because its a notebook or the normal one?

erk, confused!

Skanky, just use the normal ones although I believe both should work. I used the normal ones. I suggest not using the CCC version (catalyst control center) as the control center software itself seems to throttle the cpu up every few seconds and drain my battery. The regular version with the ATI control center works quite nice with me and in general especially with your 7500 you won't need the advanced features in CCC.

its the "Catalyst 5.6 Windows XP" driver which has a 32mb file with the CCC and the 25mb one without, which is the one i want, right?

Yeah I suggest the 25mb one, you can try both if you'd like and see if you have problems with CCC like I did.
