Firefox 58 is fast

#1 Post by jaspen-meyer » Sat Feb 10, 2018 11:36 am

I'm testing firefox 58 on an L2400 x60s (Debian 8) and it is much faster than firefox 52, and uses less cpu cycles.
A case in point, it loads ebay.com and can scroll without any lag. Firefox 52 can't do that.

The newer version makes use of both cores and is more effecient in dealing with javascript. Works great on older hardware.

Interesting. I wonder how it would compare to a modern version of Google Chrome.

I've been a Firefox user for a long time, and I love the Quantum update! It really is a lot faster and smoother than the older versions. A couple add-ons took a hit, but most of the ones I used were updated to work with the new version. I just wish it worked with XP (but I can't really complain about that at this point).
