For fun (what else ?) – How to disable the power on button ?
Hello,
I have a new Thinkpad , an X220 on which I have installed Windows 8.1. I have the fingerprint reader, so I installed ThinkVantage FingerPrint Software and I configured in order to boot the laptop via the reader (not just exit from sleep, no, really booting the machine). It's nice, quick and so on (it reminds me Mission : Impossible, the 90s' series ). It could be a plus in terms of security to only boot from the reader, but I didn't see nothing in the BIOS to disable the button itself (I have the latest McDonnell modified 1.45 BIOS) and if that's something which is possible in Windows, it's probably in the G.P.O. (my Windows is a professionnal edition) but I have found nothing.
So, my question(s) :
– is there something like that in the G.P.O. ?
– if not, is that possible to disable the physical power button, and how ?
Thanks !
W.

Remove/isolate pin 19 on the keyboard connector.
Planned Purchase: T480s i5-8350 FHD Touch

And then, the first time the reader malfunctions, get stuck without the ability to turn the machine on, and start frantically running around looking for a docking station (or disassemble the laptop to re-enable pin 19). Sounds like great planning to me.
It also does not add anything in terms of security, if you have strong BIOS/OS passwords.

Hello,
I add "If I lose my fingers, my hand or my arm, it will be very delicate" !
Thanks for the tip with pin 19. Is there a software solution ?
