Which model had a dim TLight, vertical USB port on the right side...

#1 Post by Yukikaze » Mon Aug 20, 2018 10:50 pm

In short, I'm confused as to which model I used 6 years ago and have never seen since. It had vertical USB on the right, so it seems like one of the R61? type but then T400 looks really similar - I just don't think the USBs on the left were vertical too.

To top it all off, I remember an IBM logo which obviously doesn't adorn the R or T400... was that just for AU models?

It's hard - they all look so similar!

Any help would be appreciated - I know not enough info is given, but what of the IBM logo?

Dim ThinkLight sounds like the R series.

Was the machine a widescreen system or a square 4:3 one ?

IBM logo is meaningless in this equation for the most part.

R had yellow LED thinklight, while T had white. 14" wide T61 has vertical USB ports, probably also 14" R61.

Thanks for the replies, I cannot recall the colour - only that it was dim. Obviously it wasn't so white when seen reflected off the keyboard, but the LED itself could have been white. So the model could have been T400 or T/R61 all with Vista. Thanks!

My R500 has 3 vertical USB's on the LH side and the most yellow weak light I have ever seen as a think light! Have half thought about fitting an old t4x LED but then I remember I can't solder that well...

I remember the first time I saw a yellow ThinkLight. I had only seen T series machines before and seeing how dim and well...IT WAS YELLOW, it was surprising nonetheless. It was an R50.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Probably 14" widescreen R61.
