Faded screen colors or bad gamma on Thinkpad

#1 Post by caseyk » Mon Jun 27, 2005 11:35 pm

Hi! I've recently bought a Thinkpad and one thing that I discovered is that the LCD is not as vibrant as the other brands on the market. So what I did was uninstalling the drivers and intalling it with Intel's and then the colors became as good as the other brands. This lasted for several days until I went into the display properties again because I wanted to see the gamma settings then suddenly the color reverts back to the faded bright display again. Has anybody noticed the same? Is there a way to solve this issue because I don't think it's really a hardware problem, but more of the IBM's display driver? Any suggestions

I bet the issue is more with the actual screen than the graphics card. I had two A31p's. One with 14 and one with 15 screen. The 14 was dull and lifeless and the 15 was brighter and more vibrant than brand new Mac Powerbooks. I love my 15 screen computer, The 14 I don't. Yet they are the same computer.
A31P used in video production with Avid and Digital photography

Gamma settings

You could try the different drivers. My gamma settings stay the same after I change them. Could be the driver or registry problems on your system. Which system do you have?
