widescreen

i just bought my first thinkpad... like it so far.. i was just wondering if there are any thinkpads that have a wide screen instead of a standard screen? i've been looking and cant find any

Its generally because they make consumer notebooks for media uses (Widescreen movie theater on your desktop)
I find them large and very unportable.
But I think they're making some widescreen X series tho.

Widescreens arent really that great. Well, they are good for watching WS movies and such, but the average user won't really find any advantage. Regular office work won't really benefit. Photoshoppers will to some extend.

I certainly thing Big Blue had some opinion polls made about this subject, and found that the vast majorety of their users werent interested.

I myself, find no use for a widescreen laptop. It's just an extra bulk to carry around.

Yes sir ;)

At the end you want a laptop to be portable. And not your mobile home office. Looking at huge screens you can do at home :P (like most of us :P)
