Resume from standby display mode question

Hi I was wondering why does the Thinkpad enables both LCD and external display when I resume from standby. I have already check the box which says restore my previous setting when resuming from standby. However, upon resuming from standby both displays are enabled again? Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? Many thanks.
