Which should I get?

#1 Post by leaL » Mon Mar 11, 2019 12:41 pm

I can get a l380 for 670$ with i5 8th gen or a T460s (second hand) for 780$ with i5 6th gen.
Which would be better for programming and Data Analysis.

Also need to know what displays they have, amount of RAM, and the hard drive they come with.

I'd probably stick to the T460s as it is better built, the bigger display is better for programming, and the matte display is better than glossy....but more details are required. Also how computationally heavy are the programs and analysis that you are doing. The 8th gen processor may come in handy if you really need that extra "oomph"
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

The next question: which one has the better resolution?
T460s has an option for IPS 1920 x 1080 touch, does that machine have that?

L380 is 1080p only. T460s can go to 1440p. Not sure what part of the touchscreen is enticing but for some people I guess they can find a use case.

They have 1920 x 1080 each (no touch) everything is almost identical. Only difference is the screen size and cpu and some minor features like UMTS
