BIOS Error 0199 - Security pasword retry count exceeded (not yet) on T460

I have a T460 and I'm trying to remember the supervisor password. I have this option enabled in the BIOS and I know that if I input the wrong password 3 consecutive times the computer gets blocked and can't be used until the correct password Is entered. The question Is: if I input the wrong password once, then boot the system, then go to the BIOS again, is the count restarted (as I'm not making a consecutive try) or the system remembers the previous one even if It doesn't display it under the lock at the next BIOS access?

hello jack..
welcome to the forum..
that is an interesting bit of info.. :)
i wonder if it extends across all thinkpads.. don't think i'll give it a try though..
what anyone can take away from this is to NOT forget or lose that, or most, passwords..

Just ignore that notification, and keep trying 3 times, if wrong, then switch completely off, and cold restart.
Even just a reboot after 3 failed attempts works on many machines.
The Bios does not lock you out after 3 tries, just wont let you try 4 until a reboot.
