Is your ThinkPad LCD screen visable under sun light?

#1 Post by jhonyl » Wed Jul 06, 2005 2:57 pm

Hi

Mine is almost not visable outside at noon. I can only see the difference between black and white, and both look kind of brown. Do you have any tricks to make the screen visability better?

If you are talking about noon on a sunny day, then almost can't see a thing here.

I find it difficult to see the even with the LCD brightness to its fullest. I wish there was a way to be able to see anything. I've tried darkening the cursor with very little success. :?

I wish someone would find out how to turn off the backlight. In the sun you don't need it.

the new Samsung Q30 and Dell X1 have a button to turn off the light and you can work for hours in the sun light.

There must be a software function, because when coming out from energy saving mode, my Thinkpad first turns on the screen, and only after wild movement of the mouse it then turns on the backlight. So it is all software...

anyone knows?

At midday 1500hrs and clear skies, I have trouble seeing the whole span of colours on my 14,1" SXGA screen.
However, at evening its no problem.

With X41 tablet...I can usually find an angle well enough to see the screen pretty good.

I can see text on the X21 cranked all the way up on battery (important - because the X21 defaults to "Normal" for the max bright, rather than "High", when on battery).
