IBM USB Keyboard with UltraNav - parts replacement

#1 Post by Kulich » Wed Apr 29, 2020 5:40 pm

People who own or just know this keyboard - it is visually similar to one from a T4x laptop. If it lacks keys or hinges under them, could they be replaced from the laptop keyboard?

That looks like an IBM SK-8840.
KB could well be from T4x, but even in those days there were three manufacturers, who used different parts: NMB, Alps and Chicony.
You'd need to remove a key to inspect what's underneath.
Here's some info: https://www.ebay.ie/itm/311542123873
On that page there's a separate scroll-down, which shows you the differences between parts.
They have a lot more stuff, so ask them.

Wow! where did you find this? What price?

I got the ones without the Numeric Keypad and would like to get 1-2 of these Full size ones if possible.

Just dug out a similar model without the keypad (SK-8845RC or SK-8845 RC), the trackpoint doesn't like going to the right direction though, any idea?

Cheers.

P.S. Picked up years ago for maybe ~$20 from the local flea market.

OP @kulich - Did you ever get the parts from a vendor? Did they fit to work?
