Cleaning the keyboard?

Ive been using my thinkpad for several months now, and I'm starting to notice the spots I usually put my fingers on are getting "dirty" (like the oily look). I'm pretty most of you know what I'm talking about (right?) Is there a way to clean this? Or is there no turning back?

Try cleaning it with something mild, like some computer wipes. Or soapy water. Don't need to be picky like you would be with choosing a screen cleaning solution. If this is your first time cleaning the keyboard after several months, I'm sure it's only dirt and it'll go away. If it doesn't, well then there's no turning back.

I think most keyboards get shiny keys over time. I've never found a way of reversing it.

It's a permanent problem - the finish starts to break down from the oils in your fingers and repeated use...

You can clean your keyboard with pure alcohol which you can buy from any pharmacy. I use it all the time, on the screen as well. It can't do any harm to the screen or the keyboard - it is sold in plastic bottles after all and that is what the keys and the screen are made of.

You can't reverse the key shine though, it's basically polished, the surface on the keys has been physically smoothened by the fingers.
