CTO questions
Howdy,
I ordered a barebones t43 cto unit, with no optios.
I am curious, with the hard drive, and slimbay dvd drives, do I need anything else. like a cady, or tray or adapter?
I noticed some one asking if the hard drive tray is included with the cto, and it was said they are not.
Which leads me to ask, where does one find one of these trays if one needs a tray? and what excatly are they called?
and I would prefer not to use ebay.
Thanks.

Use the Hardware Maintenance Manual for your model. It tells you EVERYTHING you need to know.
That'll give you an FRU number. Search for that (as in, if the FRU is 12A3456, then google "ibm 12A3456"), and you'll find some for sale.

I was looking at those caddy's and subsequently on other retail sites, and I have seen no mention of any caddy working for the t43's, only up to the t42's.
Does anyone know if the t43's changed, and dont use a caddy anymore? or some other solution perhaps?
or maybe the ones that say they work for the t42, works for the t43 as well....
This whole "putting it together myself" for a laptop has me all confused... and desktops are so easy.

I'm grabbing the T43/p (note the slash - it means it's for both the T43 and the T43p) HMM now...
Hmm... if it's a 14.1", the "cover" is P/N 13N5530.
A 15" cover is P/N 13R2922.
Also, you may need the "hard disk guide rail". It's in the "System miscellaneous parts". 14.1" P/N is 26R8408, 15" P/N is 13R2915.
I don't know that those are the right parts, but it was what looked right...
