I have an computer LCD monitor that I want to hook up as a TV. Is there any possibility for the monitor to accept RCA or an S-Video input without a computer?

Unless you bought a monitor with a built-in tuner, you cannot do what you are asking without a computer.

Hmmm - you need something to drive the display.

Almost anything is possible if you throw enough money at the problem.

However, as you can buy a 15" LCD/TV with remote and power supply for around $250 or less, there's no way you could turn that LCD into a TV for less than that and that's not including putting any value on your time.

Sell the LCD on eBay and use the proceeds to buy the TV you want.

No, it wouldn't work. That's just a cable adapter for video cards that already provide composite or s-video on the VGA connection.

The problem is that your monitor wants a VGA signal -- RGB component video, in fact.

What is your video source? You will probably need something to convert from either RF Cable or antenna to RGB. Or from Composite (VHS) or S-Video (video game?) to RGB.

Viewsonic used to sell a small standalone tuner with VGA out. Maybe they still do. It has a remote control, channel-changer display, and S-Video inputs.

You would need something like that to drive your LCD monitor. When it's all said and done, depending on your panel, it might not look that great.

Some LCD monitors, like the Dell 2001FP, are already set up to accept NTSC (S-Video or Composite) video inputs -- then you'd be all set.

Without knowing more about your monitor or your video source, it's impossible to say what your options are.

It can be done, but not cheaply. You need a scaler, something like the Viewsonic N6. It takes your input and then upscales it to your monitors native resolution.

Pretty cool for 200 bucks. I probably don't need it, but I can see where it would be pretty neat for some.
