How to disable Bluetooth on a MiniPCI-E WIFI card?

#1 Post by ibrazhko » Thu Sep 21, 2023 4:39 am

Greetings, I recently purchased an Intel 8265 WIFI card in MiniPCI-Express format (yes, you can find that on Aliexpress) for my old but gold W500. It works great, but since it comes with built-in Bluetooth, it gets in conflict with W500's own Bluetooth card.

Does anyone know which pin I need to 'tape out' on the 8265 to disable Bluetooth?

(Please don't advise me to remove the built-in WIFI card; I want to keep it specifically because it's on/off state works properly with the green LED indicator.)

https://unix.stackexchange.com/question ... -hp-laptop
As shown there:
- Mask pin 51 to disable Bluetooth.
- Mask pin 20 to disable WiFi.

IMO the better way is to mask/cover pin 36 and 38, which carries the USB data signals used by the Bluetooth part.
