?T43p vs. R52 ? Need help for purchasing my first notebook!

#1 Post by hamilton » Tue Jul 26, 2005 8:29 am

Hi,

I plan to by a new notebook (my first one).

Because of student offers, it will be T43 p (2,1 Ghz, 1GB RAM, FireGL3200 128MB, 60GB HDD) or the R52 (2,0Ghz, 512 MB RAM, X300 64MB, 80 GB HDD) or probably even the HP nx8220.

I would be glad to get some hints and advice, because I'm not in on notebooks.

There is a big difference in price between these both:
T43p EUR 2700, R52 EU 1595 (HP nx8220: EUR 1500).

Could anyone tell me, if the T43p is of better quality than the R52? Does anyone have experience with the HP keyboards?

I'm glad for every response.

ps: sorry for my bad english.

HP keyboards may work for expert typists with small fingers. But if the keyboard is important, stick with IBM or a high-end Toshiba.

Toshiba disqualified itself to me by putting the ALT-GR key in the german keyboard-layout too far away from the SPACE key. (I need this for TeX, a program for writing scientific texts)

BTW: What about tablet pc's? How good is the handwriting-recognition? Especially the Acer C311 or Acer in general, are they comparable to TPs?

->Still want advice for the main topic as well...
