anything I should be aware of before I take on this endeavor?

If it's like any other laptop I've down, the following might help:

Take pictures before/after

Keep the screws in a small cup (or anything really)

For the love of god, make sure there is no juice......no power.....None.

Follow those, and you won't make any of the same mistakes I've made.

Be very careful with any ribbon cables and their connectors, as they are fragile. Do not pull a connector apart by the ribbon cable. Try using a small blade of some sort to pry connectors apart.

Watch out for static electricity. Take precautions to ensure that you have touched the metal chassis before touching components.

Try and not touch the contacts of electrical connectors, as this can result in corrosion and poor conductivity at a later date.

Have the right tools and quality tools for the job. If you don't have one, purchase a miniature screwdriver set before you start.
