Docks -- 40AS and Lenovo E14 Gen 2 series

Okay, After the rebuild on my Gen 2 E-14 from an Intel-based to an AMD-based unit I got caught up in the dock chase. Finding the dock that would allow me to use either E-14 without changing docks all the time led me to the 40AS series. The 2019-2020 OCM says this should work for either unit. I believe mine is a Gen 2 40AS dock. Of course, the issue is it works fine with one (the Intel) and only partially with the other (AMD) unit.
With the AMD unit, it will turn it on, connect the peripherals (Logitech wireless dongle for mouse and keyboard), USB thumbdrive, etc...... but NOT video via the USB4 USB-C cable. I have tried 3 different USB-C cables, all the same result. I have not been able (yet) to run the dock driver-update but will try that today. Currently running the Intel-based E-14 and it is running fine via this dock.
Any thoughts or insight?
ETA: currently running the 1.1.22 dock driver updated from 3/25 via the Intel-based E-14.

I only ever had Intel-based Thinkpads, so can't share first-hand experience, but let's try some investigation and debug.
Which USB-C dock works for you when it comes to video output on the AMD unit?

So far this AMD-based E-14 doesn't communicate with any of the docks that I own (quite a small collection, thank you Lenovo). And I misspoke, I just tried again and the unit is not communicating with the dock at all, but it is listed as the right dock on the OCM. What I do not have is the OAEM USB-C cable, so it is possible that it doesn't like after-market USB-C/USB4/Thunderbolt USB cables?
ETA - E14 G2 Intel works with 40AS dock using either USB4 or Thunderbolt cable.
E14 G2 AMD works with ..... uh, neither.....

Have you tried USB-C 3.2 ?
Just in case, those docks need 90W instead of the standard 65W power supply.

Short of thinking that the USB-C port might be faulty, I wonder - is there any BIOS setting that might have to do with enabling advanced features (other than power) on the USB-C port?
Other than docks - have you any USB-C devices you can plug in directly to see if they work?

I recall a post somewhere on disabling security in BIOS when using docks or somesuch, but this device has no "dock" anything in BIOS, so that can't be done. The USB-C port is iffy (very tender to movement) considering that it is a brand new mobo, but it does work to charge and will work with a USB-C thumbdrive. And regarding the dock power supply, I have a 90W and 135W Lenovo bricks available and it doesn't make any difference (tried that). These USB-C ports are not replaceable without a micro-soldering station.
