Need keys: IBM Dock II 2877

#1 Post by crab_rangoon » Sat Nov 08, 2025 2:44 pm

Hi! I need keys for IBM Thinkpad Dock II (TYPE 2877). I have two docks, the codes are 4431 and 4739 (printed on the bottom, near the lock cylinder).

Two questions:
1. Where can I get new keys?
2. I see keys online but the keys don't have codes that match my lock cylinder codes (they're alphanumeric OR they have more characters). Is there a chart or conversion that matches cylinder codes to key codes?

Hmm, I actually hadnt even considered picking the lock...
Assuming I'm able to revert it to unlocked position, any idea if the Dock II functions entirely with it always being in the unlocked state? Like, the laptop doesnt need to be locked in to be used?

Those docks fully work whether locked or unlocked.
